Today’s launch of the UCP is Phase 1 of a multi-phased development plan. The two organizations reached a deal on Friday whereby SevenL Networks will provide Gentoo Linux with remote servers, adding to their already elaborate world-wide infrastructure, in exchange for ongoing promotion of SevenL Networks’ leading services.

“Open Source, and in particular Gentoo Linux, is where the industry is headed” said Cassius Adams, Vice President of Sales at SevenL Networks. Adams’ statement was echoed by SevenL Networks founder, Dan Gallo. “We’ve been using Gentoo Linux as our operations OS (operating system) for some time now” Gallo said. “A partnership seemed to be a natural progression and much of the industry has been following.
